About Me

Hi, I’m Michael Bell. I help companies figure things out, get things done, and thrive in changing business contexts.

I unexpectedly fell into the world of emerging markets in the mid-2000’s. The grit, the energy, the chaos, all juxtaposed against boundless opportunities, stirred something deep within me. Returning home, I was never the same. These initial trips to China and India were the start of a lifelong passion for emerging markets.

From herding yaks with nomads in Mongolia, being pitched a nuclear submarine at an investment summit in Siberia, breaking fast at sunset during Ramadan with locals in the old city of Amman, interviewing “the King of Color” (the most famous member of the Sapeur subculture in Congo-Brazzaville), meeting the sitting Prime Minister of Georgia while visiting Tbilisi, to learning how business really works in the back streets of Lagos and La Paz, I’ve been unimaginably fortunate to develop a reservoir of experiences that I consistently draw on to connect deeply with others, think about the world in fundamentally different ways, and pursue transformational businesses opportunities in frontier markets.

Throughout, I’ve been fortunate to work with some very talented people and to travel around the world for ostensibly business-related purposes.

Currently based in New York City. Member of The Explorers Club, Travelers Century Club, and a Board Member of Circumnavigators Club.
