Southeast Asia Adventures

Myanmar is finally starting to open up to the outside world. When we visited in 2013, Myanmar was still under U.S. financial sanctions (in good company with Cuba, North Korea and Iran who are the only other countries under such sanctions at the time). As a result, Myanmar was not connected to the international banking system. To finance our time in the country, we flew over with thousands of dollars worth of crisp, new United States $100 bills strapped to our legs.

Our time in the country included experiencing daily life in the old colonial city of Yangon, exploring the thousands of Buddhist temples on the plains of Bagan, and motorbiking in some remote regions of north central Myanmar. The second half of the Southeast Asia Adventures video features Vietnam. Vietnam is a great emerging destination for food, nightlife, culture, beaches, and slightly biased “War of Western Atrocities” museums.

Locations: Yangon, Myanmar; Mandalay, Myanmar; Bagan, Myanmar; Rural southern plains region Myanmar; Northern mountainous region, Myanmar; Hanoi, Vietnam; Nha Trang, Vietnam; Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
